Ways to eat Pie

When it comes to fast and delicious hunger killer foods, pies take the number one spot for many South Africans! Whether You need to grab a quick bite before you get to work or on a road trip with the family, everybody knows that a ”pie will satisfy”.

Garlic Butter Mash with Steak & Kidney Gourmet Pie :

What will you need?

  • 4 medium sized melting potatoes
  • 1/4 cup of cream or milk
  • 6 garlic cloves
  • 2 tablespoon butter
  • small sheet of foil for garlic
  • any vegetables of your choice
  • 4 gourmet pies (steak and kidney)

How To Prepare?

  1. Cut potatoes into quarters  and add into a pot with one teaspoon salt. Cover with water and bring to a boil until potatoes are fork-tender.
  2. While the potatoes are getting ready, place garlic cloves and 1 tablespoon of butter in foil and into the oven at 300°C for about 15 minutes.
  3. Warm up some milk/cream & 1- table spoon butter in a saucepan. Add in roasted garlic cloves and mix together. 
  4. Drain water from potatoes. Add in garlic butter mixture into potatoes. Mash all together until smooth and creamy.
  5. Add Gourmet Steak & Kidney Pie into oven for 10 mins or until golden brown

How To Eat?

Slice Gourmet Steak & Kidney Pie in half. Let the rich hearty gravy from the Gourmet pie seep into the creamy garlic butter mash. Enjoy with a choice of your own steamed vegetables. Now that’s a Pie never to forget!
